REDS: Treatment options
Why DBT?
At REDS we use ideas from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
DBT is a type of therapy that helps people manage strong emotions, improve relationships, and reduce harmful behaviours. We use DBT because it gives practical skills that can be learned and used in everyday life. These skills can help you feel more in control, make better choices, and build healthier connections with others.
Please note, REDS does not offer assessment sessions, instead we rely on the assessment of the person or service that refers you to REDS.
What treatment is available?
You may be offered one of the following treatment options based on your needs:
Low-intensity options
RED-E: A pre recorded video programme
RED E is a new pre recorded course - a series of videos that cover the same material we teach in our treatment groups.
- This mirrors the content of the standard REDS pathway
- Designed for people who prefer self directed learning
- Registration is completed via a Teams form.
- You will then receive a direct link and password to access the course.
We have made RED-E open access, so you can now sign-up without a referral: h ttps://learning.cpft.nhs.uk/course/view.php?id=2648
Webinar:
The webinar is a new taught course. It's 12 weeks long and delivered in weekly one‑hour sessions by our facilitators. It covers the same content as the standard REDS pathway and is in a non‑interactive format: cameras and microphones remain off throughout.
High-intensity options
Is this for me?
This is our introduction to high-intensity work where we invite you to learn and experience more about group treatment, which includes psychologically-led and peer support-led programmes.
- You will be asked to watch some videos on our website
- Attend one introductory workshop.
- We discuss the types of difficulties we can help with.
- We explain how these difficulties may have developed.
- Helps you understand more about why you struggle with emotions.
- At the end, you will be offered a choice of two treatment options (you may complete one, or both consecutively).
You will then choose whether to attend the Peer Support Group and / or the DBT Skills Group.
