The ward environment

Ward S3 is a mixed-sex inpatient unit for adults aged 18 and over based at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. It is a specialist unit for individuals with an eating disorder who have been assessed by the community team and are considered to need a more intensive approach to the treatment of their eating disorder. It is a 14-bed ward, all single room facility.

As the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Adult Eating Disorder Service is a county-wide service, we accept referrals from the Cambridge, Huntingdon, Peterborough, and Fenland catchment areas. We also provide a regional in-patient facility for people with eating disorders.

For those individuals who are outside of our county-wide catchment area, the in-patient team provide liaison and joint working with other community eating disorder teams, or local community mental health teams.

Addenbrooke's is an NHS Foundation Trust and Cambridge University teaching hospital, which gives us the advantage of having easy access to the full range of medical services.

Cambridge city centre, and the main train and bus stations, are within easy access to the ward. There is a regular local bus service from the hospital to other areas.
