Trust achieves NHS Veteran Aware reaccreditation
CPFT has successfully achieved NHS Veteran Aware reaccreditation.
The award recognises the Trust’s ongoing commitment to understand and meet the needs of the armed forces community.
It follows a detailed submission made by the Trust which was described as ‘an excellent example, which is most strongly supported.’
The scheme seeks to deliver better health and wellbeing for the whole of the armed forces community, a more joined-up experience of care for serving personnel and their families as they move around the country and transition from service to civilian life, faster and more local access to high quality, personalised care, and greater value for money.
Steve Grange, Chief Executive, said: “As a member of the Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance we are committed to share and drive best practice in NHS care for existing and former members of the armed forces, as well as their spouses and dependents.”
Tom Bale, Chair of the Trust’s Armed Forces Network, said: “This demonstrates to our armed forces community that they can be confident that we are committed to ensuring they are not disadvantaged and will give special consideration where appropriate.
"We have also educated and trained all relevant staff to identify and respond to their specific needs and will support them as an employer. I am proud to be the Chair of the Trust’s Armed Forces Network and this reaccreditation is testament to the hard work and commitment of not only our network members but the wider Trust.”
The scheme is administered by the Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance, an NHS England funded programme hosted by the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust.
