Community nurses providing care and special gifts to patients this Christmas

Community nurses from Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust will be providing care and a special gift to patients this Christmas.

Nurses from the Trust will be working throughout the festive period – including Christmas Day – to deliver essential treatment to older people and those with long-term conditions.

And along with their medical supplies, they will carry with them presents to give to any patients who may be isolated or without family and friends to visit them.

The special gifts, including those that will be delivered by nurses from the Cambridge North City Team (pictured), have been organised by CPFT’s charity Head to Toe.

Ashton N’tuli, Operations Director for the Trust’s Older People and Adult Community services, said: “Our community nurses will be working throughout the festive period visiting patients in their own homes and delivering essential care.
“For some of those patients, our nurses might be the only visitors they will see so it’s really heart-warming to be able to offer them a small gift and make their Christmas just a little bit more special.
“I am very proud of our teams and difference they make each day and I would like to extend a special thanks to them all."

Hannah Wysocki, charity manager of Head to Toe, said: “We are incredible proud of their work of our community nursing teams – whatever the time of year and whatever the weather, they continue to visit patients in their homes.
“This is the second year we’ve been able to provide them with presents to give to patients, and the help we’ve had from organisations and supporters who have donated the gifts has been amazing.
“We would like to particularly like to thank Hamberley Care Homes for their kind support this Christmas, that has allowed us to provide these lovely gifts.”

CPFT, which employs more than 4,500 staff, provides community physical health services for older people and adults with long term conditions, mental health services, children community services in Peterborough and learning disability services.
